Rules are a vital part of any website. Without them, what would happen? Well, to answer simply, it would all fall apart, now wouldn't it? ^^ However, we don't want to make our rules too annoying or too hard to follow.
We can't force you to read the rules, but we'll show no mercy if you break the rules, all because you didn't even read them. Pssh, that's just Alice's spineless little mind talking - TINK SAYS IT'S REQUIRED. Okay, carry on. (: Keep that in mind.
Okay, back to Tink. All right, so we all hate rules. We need them though. I don't want to have to enforce them, and I doubt you want to get chewed out because you messed up and didn't read these. So I'll get started. Note that, along with our rules, you must agree to the ProBoards TOS - which you can read when signing up. Oh yeah, and keep an eye out for the secret code that lets us know you read our rules! (:
ONE » The first and probably the most important rule - stay courteous, kind, civil, behaved, etc. If you're caught in the middle of an argument, please bring it to the reports board! That brings it to all of the staff's attention and it also lets other members see it and give us their two cents worth. And yes, you are allowed to post a reply to a thread in the reports board even if you are not a part of the problem. We'd love to hear your input as to what you think the staff should do - we never want to seem too harsh or too easy.
TWO » Don't double-post! Both OOC and IC. There are certain threads where it's okay - like your character gallery, a graphics gallery, etc. - but for the most part, like in a random general chat thread, it's a no-no
( we're; 1 of 3 ) ProBoards gave us a "modify" button for a reason.
THREE » No spamming! Except in the spam board, of course. Take all threads seriously, especially OOC ones.
FOUR » No chatspeak! 'omg! i had an idea. do u want ur cat 2 b mates with mine?!?!'. Ah, no. Simple things like omg and lol are allowed but note that 'be' is not 'b', 'two, too', and 'to' are not '2', 'for' is not '4', etc. - use your grammar! Spelling mistakes are
( all; one of 3 ) okay here and there, if you misspell a word, we aren't going to freak out on you. However if it becomes very frequent, we'll ask you to start using spell-check - but I suggest getting the Firefox browser seeing as it comes with a built-in spell check that underlines wrongly-spelled words as you go along ( plus, it's just plain better! ).
FIVE » Keep it appropriate! This site is rated PG-13 both IC and OOC! Sure, cussing is allowed, but keep it to a minimum. We don't want to listen to you let off a long string of profanity. And no *cough*
intimate scenes.
SIX » No advertising! This includes through PMs as well. Don't send a PM to everyone online saying 'OMIGOSHES I MADE A COOL SITE YOU SHOULD JOOOOIN! ;D'. If it's a friend, sure, but if you're just doing it to get members - no. We have an advertising board. No advertising in the OOC boards either, remember. You can always put an image in your siggy advertising the site though. (:
SEVEN » Pay attention to the staff! I should hope you'd listen to what I tell you, seeing as I am the one who
made the rules and know what I'm talking about. However, this is mostly with staff members like Bio Approvers and possibly Moderators. If they tell you to do something - listen to them. If you think they're mistaken about something, you can go ahead and give me a ring through PM or just post in the questions and comments board. We want you to tell us if you think we're doing our job wrong, but if we're just enforcing the rules, please be docile about it.
EIGHT » Profiles are rather simple. Your display name should be all lowercase, the first and last name of your character ( you can stick their nickname in between in single quotes if you'd like ). Your signature must have at least one picture about your character ( we have a graphics board if you're artistically challenged )
( mad; 3 of three ) but the rest of it can be whatever you like. The part of the signature that's up to you, I'll be pretty relaxed about, I just don't want something that takes up, say, half the page. I've seen that before and all it does is add a lot of unnecessary scrolling.
